Isaac's First Haircut

Finally Isaac had enough hair for his first haircut! So off to the Barber we went.....

Big brother Jonathan also needed a haircut and a touch up on his highlights before he stared 7th grade!

Isaac was even so considerate, he cleaned up afterwards!

Cafe Ceramique

After Jonathan and Gabriel started school, we had 2 weeks to wait until Lukas and Annelise joined them. One of the things we did was go to Cafe Ceramique. It is one of those places that you paint pottery, and eat lunch. We still haven't picked up our finished projects, they are still being fired. Here are some pictures of our day.....

And adding his handprint

Annelise and Lukas were very serious about their art...

Gabriel's 9th Birthday

Happy Birthday Gabriel! We love you so much can't wait to see what the next year brings! You are so full of energy and fun, what would we do without you?

On Saturday we celebrated Gabriel's Birthday. We had a big pool party, 50 kids! Even though it is still really hot, everyone had a great time. We are very fortunate to have a restaurant here on our compound so we had them cater the food and the cake. All we had to do was show up and enjoy the day with friends!

Our Summer Project

So this summer we had some friends move in.......

Last summer the same thing happened. A whole colony of honeybees built a hive on the chain of one of our bikes. Me, being afraid of the kids, (and myself!) getting stung had Ryan kill the whole colony with bug spray.

This summer, we had another colony move in! We decided to embark on a family project, Build a Beehive!

Once it was built, we made the big attempt to move them from the bike to the hive.....

Everything was going well and we were all excited to have our own real beehive! But, as you can see in the next photo there was already A LOT of honey in the previous hive..... So unfortunately we had more of a bee masacre than anything else. The bees ended up drowning in their own honey :( We were all very sad, especially after having worked so hard on the beehive. We learned a lot for next time, and hope to have the chance to "Build a Better Beehive" next time!
